LUMINARSI IS THE PROJECT of producer-songwriter Andrew Maxam, a quirky electronic gentleman who produces quirky electronic music to impress quirky electronic girls. Starting to produce on his computer at the age of 15, Andrew plugged his guitar into his computer and started multi-tracking just to see if he could pull a song together. Turned out he could. With the attention span of a clam, and a kind of ambition that wildly outstrips the amount of time available for any given project, Andrew soon widened his musical palette to include the a wider range of synthetic and natural sounds in his compositions, in an attempt to find the exact point where traditional styles such as soul, jazz and blues separate from the modern sounds of techno, trip hop and IDM. He likes to think that Luminarsi’s music is entirely unclassifiable. Really, you could get away with calling it electronica. Often described as atmospheric and evocative, and frequently accused of using The Legend of Zelda as his sole influence, the music has a warmth and depth that makes it as easy to listen to on the dance floor as in a lounge or bedroom. Andrew also writes his own press releases. He finds talking about himself in the third person a little uncomfortable. |
